The Fine Print
The Producer retains 50% of the Publishing/Writer's share on all licenses. This applies to composition ownership (melody, chords, and underlying musical work) and ensures the producer is credited and paid through PROs (BMI, ASCAP, etc.) when the song is performed or streamed.
Master Ownership is what you lease or buy: the right to use the recording (the beat as a .wav or stems) for your release within the terms of your tier. You do not own the master until you purchase an Exclusive, at which point Master rights transfer to you.
Composition Ownership is shared: 50% Producer / 50% Artist (you). This split is standard in the industry and does not change with Basic, Premium, or Exclusive—only Master ownership changes with Exclusive.
Frequently Asked Questions
Stems are individual track layers of the beat—like the kick, snare, synth, and other elements exported separately. When you take a beat to a professional studio, your engineer needs these to mix your vocals properly. Premium and Exclusive licenses include stems so you get a radio-ready mix.
